Consumers Bought Big-Screen TVs During Pandemic
RESEARCH INDICATES AMERICANS WERE GETTING NEW BIG SCREEN TVS WHEN STATES WERE IN LOCKDOWN
(CNN) – Despite the pandemic, during lockdowns, Americans were spending big on big televisions.
The research firm, the NPD Group, found that consumers were buying televisions at levels usually seen during the holiday season.
In the first half of 2020, sales of 65-inch TVs or larger were up 53%.
NPD says the technology helped keep people busy and entertained while they were stuck in home.
In addition to TVs, there was also a surge in sales for sound bars, streaming players, and mounts.
But this current growth may not change the projected decline in technology sales.
The Consumer Technology Association forecasts a 2% decrease for 2020.
