Carr, Blanchard Lead Columbus Natives After Round 1 of 91st Southeastern Amateur

DEFENDING CHAMPION BEN CARR SHOT -1 IN THE FIRST ROUND

The 91st Southeastern Amateur teed off Tuesday, July 21 featuring some of the top young athletes in the country. Alex Vogelsong of Auburn led the field in the WAGR leading up to the tournament with a ranking of No. 93 in the world. Defending Champion, Ben Carr of Georgia Southern, returned to defend his title. Carr set the tournament course record (61) and 72 holes scoring record of 261 in 2019.

The Southeastern Amateur is one of the oldest amateur championships in the United States held at the Country Club of Columbus. After round 1, Brookstone senior Bo Blanchard and Carr led the Columbus native golfers at -1. Columbus High alum Max Sheppard close behind at even for the day.
