Three St. Anne-Pacelli Soccer Players Signed National Letter of Intent

The St. Anne-Pacelli Vikings honored three senior soccer players who inked their National Letters of Intent on Friday, July 17. Family and friends gathered to celebrate Ben Kempffer, Brayden Wood and Isaias Zamudio-Facio. COVID-19 could not prevent a signing day for these deserving seniors.

“We had a good good season at the beginning, but sadly it did end,” said Zamudio. “Ending off on this note with friends and my teammates is the best it could be.”

Kempffer will play goalkeeper in the Peach Belt Conference at the University of North Georgia. His teammate, Zamudio-Facio will stay close to home and play defender at Point University.

“A dream come true. These guys are like my brothers,” said Kempffer. “We’ve been together all nine years I’ve been playing club soccer. It was amazing.”

Wood signed to compete as a forward at the University of Montevallo. Despite playing only four games this spring, Wood tallied 10 goals and 4 assists.

“I was about 13 or 14, and I had a coach that told me I wasn’t good enough. I didn’t make the team,” said Wood. “That whole year I worked my butt off and came back. Now I was captain of the team and I went and played at Costa Rica, so it’s a good feeling.”
