Heat Really Kicking in

Strong high pressure in the southwestern US will keep pushing low pressure systems through the southeast. This will keep a decent chance for daily showers in the forecast through the weekend. As daytime temperatures will be getting hotter, there will be enough instability to allow for isolated thunderstorms, too. Nothing widespread severe, but a few strong storms with heavy rainfall will be possible. There is a chance isolated severe storms could kick up Saturday and Sunday afternoon and evening, but still a bit too early to get a real clear handle on that. We’ll keep watch.

Let’s talk about those temperatures. While nighttime lows will remain in the low to mid 70s, daytime highs will be on the rise. Expecting the low 90s on Friday then up to the mid 90s for the weekend. With thick humidity still in play (models are trying to bring the dew points down a bit, though), heat indices will at least make it into the low 100s if not hotter.

Keep smiling!
