The bell of hope represents a great achievement. Glenwood Baseball Head Coach Tim Fanning finished his stage four colon cancer chemo treatment.
“As I knew that was going to be my last week, it really just started flooding over me how amazing this community has been to me and my family, and how many people it’s taken to get us to that point,” said Fanning.
Like baseball, the process is one step at-a-time for Coach Fanning.
“They want to hit that one lymph node and then reverse my ileostomy,” said Fanning. “It’s been a long process but there actually is light at the end of the tunnel.”
A community-wide effort helped Fanning survive cancer chemotherapy. The 17-year head coach received support from college coaches, Glenwood fans and former and current players.
“Anytime that I got really down, I walked on this campus and I’m good,” said Fanning. “I mean, I see them and it just changes my whole perspective.”
