River Dragons Team Up with Local Walmart to Raise Money for Children’s Miracle Network

FORWARD JAY CROOP AND GOALIE JARED RUTLEDGE SIGNED AUTOGRAPHS AT WALMART NEIGHBORHOOD MARKET ON BLACKMON ROAD

The Columbus River Dragons made a special visit to a local Walmart Neighborhood Market. Forward Jay Croop and goalie Jared Rutledge signed autographs for fans and passed out keychains and mugs, but the main reason they were at Walmart was to help raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network.

“We really enjoy that, and it’s the reason we play for the fans and the kids,” said Croop. “To see them light up for us is cool.”

Croop, Rutledge and Scorch the mascot enjoyed meeting fans and helping raise money for a good cause.

“We love giving back, but especially that it’s children,” said Rutledge. “I think it hits home for a lot of us, so we love coming out to support. We’ll be happy to do it as much as we can.”

The Walmart Neighborhood Market on Blackmon Road will be collecting donations through July 19 to help provide the best hospital care for kids, so make sure to check the River Dragons social media pages. The athletes might just stop by a few more times to sign autographs for fans.
