EU Considers Banning Travelers From US
THE EUROPEAN UNION CONSIDERS CLOSING ITS BORDERS TO AMERICAN TRAVELERS AND OTHER COUNTRIES
(CNN) – The European Union is considering closing its borders to travelers from some countries, including the United States, to protect its citizens from coronavirus.
The EU is creating a checklist of points to consider when allowing travelers into EU countries July 1st.
Topping that list: If the virus situation in the visitor’s country is comparable to or better than the average in the EU area.
Other factors include the number of new infections in the visitor’s country, the trend of new infections and the response in areas like testing, surveillance, contact tracing, containment, treatment and reporting.
The US has the highest rate of COVID-19 related deaths and infections in the world.
