Survey: American Adults Generally Unhappy
HAPPINESS AMONG AMERICANS DIPS TO FIVE-DECADE LOW DESPITE A MAJORITY SATISFIED WITH FINANCES
(CNN) – Happiness has taken a hit because of the coronavirus pandemic.
That’s according to a new study by the University of Chicago.
Researchers surveyed more than 2,200 people online and on the phone.
They found that only 14% of Americans say they are very happy right now.
That’s the lowest number taken in the pass five-decades.
What’s unique is this drop comes despite 80% of people also stating that they are satisfied with their family’s financial situation.
That number is an all-time high.
According to researchers; the findings suggest people are measuring their happiness based on their own psychological well-being.
At the same time, they are comparing their finances to the millions of laid-off and struggling Americans.
