Peru Surpasses 200K Confirmed Cases

PERU HAS SURPASSED 200,000 CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASES, THE SECOND HIGHEST NUMBER IN LATIN AMERICA

(CNN) – Peru has surpassed 200,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus, according to numbers released by the country’s health ministry on Tuesday.

Peru reported 4,040 new cases bringing the country’s total to 203,736.

It is the second highest number of cases in Latin America; behind Brazil.

The South American country also recorded 167 new COVID-19 deaths bringing the nationwide total to 5,738.

Latin America has become the hotspot for the coronavirus pandemic, with more than 3.3 million cases in the Americas.
