A Better Chance Of Rain And Storms Today

The warm and muggy conditions will continue through the weekend (probably the rest of the summer if you really want the truth). Rain and thunderstorm chances today will have a little more coverage than yesterday. A weak trough in Northern Georgia will drift southward and help to enhance rain chances through the early evening hours. Some stronger thunderstorms are possible today, as CAPE(convective available potential energy)/ (fuel) will approach 2000 J/Kg in some areas. Storms should generally move from north to south. Tropical depression Cristobal is currently, inland over the Yucatan Peninsula and moving NNE at about 7 MPH; winds are currently around 35 MPH. Cristobal is expected to move back over the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico and strengthen back into a tropical storm with winds around 60 MPH before landfall on Sunday night, in South Central Louisiana. We are not anticipating any direct impacts until possibly next week with affects being minor.
