Pro Anglers Reel in Success for Day One of Toyota Series at Lake Eufaula

The FLW Fishing Toyota Series Southeastern Division let the rods fly for their season opener on Lake Eufaula. 20 bass fisherman and co-anglers took off at 6 a.m. CT, but it was Michael Smith from Andalusia, AL who took the top spot on day one, weighing in an impressive 25 pounds, 7 ounce limit.

“I got him up next to the boat, the big one. Just had one hook left in it, and we were able to get it in the net,” said Smith. “It was a pretty crazy fight. I knew I was headed in the right direction when I got that one in.”

While it is only a 90-minute drive to Lakepoint Resort State Park, Smith considers Lake Eufuala his home lake. Same goes to Shane Powell from Dothan, AL.

“Once I saw they were coming I was pretty excited,” said Powell. “I actually didn’t practice during the official practice. I came out a week before.”

The region’s best bass fishing pros and co-anglers are casting for a top prize of up to $65,000, plus a $35,000 bonus if the winner is a qualified Phoenix Boat owner
