West Point Cadets Test Positive After Returning
SEVERAL CADETS BROUGHT BACK FOR GRADUATION AT WEST POINT TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19
(CNN) – 15 West Point cadets from the U.S. military academy class of 2020 have now tested positive for COVID-19.
Cadets had been away from campus since early march because of the pandemic.
But in April, president Donald Trump announced he was going to address the school’s commencement ceremony on June 13th despite coronavirus concerns.
Cadets then returned to campus to prepare for the ceremony.
A U.S. Army spokesperson says only a small portion of the 1000 graduating class size have tested positive and none of the patients were symptomatic.
West Point’s campus is in New York state, which has been the state hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic so far.
