GHSA Allowing Conditioning and Weight Training on June 8th, MCSD Waiting to resume Until Later Date

MUSCOGEE COUNTY ATHELTICS IS WAITING TO RESUME CONDITIONING AND WEIGHT TRAINING FOR STUDENT-ATHLETES

The Georgia High School Association is allowing student athletes to return to school for conditioning and weight training on June 8th.

Under the guidelines, no equipment can be used besides weights. Muscogee county is opting to wait for a later date before returning to action.

“We are not going to return on June 8th. We think it’s a little too early,” said Muscogee County Athletic Director, Jeff Battles. “The state of Georgia is still in a public health state of emergency until June 12th. We would really like to see if that’s lifted before we allow are student-athletes and coaches to come back.”

Under GHSA guidelines, only 20 people, including coaches are allowed to train at the same time. Equipment has to be cleaned before each use.

There is no official date on when Muscogee County student-Athletes can return for weight training and conditioning.
