Warming Up for the Holiday Weekend

After a respite in the warm temperatures over the past few days, a warmup will commence today into the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Highs today will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s, while lows tonight will be in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees. We saw some showers and thunderstorms early this morning in the southern reaches of the forecast area, and isolated showers and storms may redevelop in the heating of the day later this afternoon into the early evening.

Warmer weather is on tap for Thursday as temperatures will rise well into the 80s. Even warmer temperatures are in store for the holiday weekend as most areas will see the thermometer top the 90 degree mark for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. A stationary front currently over the area will dissipate, leaving moisture around for scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop each afternoon and evening. It will be a summer-like pattern around our area, with random coverage of rainfall each afternoon. The chances of any one place seeing rainfall on a given day will be around 20-30%.

The hot, humid conditions with isolated showers and storms will persist after Memorial Day as we head into the last full week of May.
