Rain And Isolated Thunderstorms Later Today

Rain showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon and evening hours. Not expecting any heavy rain or severe weather due to the lack of Cape (energy for thunderstorms) for most of our area. Parts of Barbour county are included in a marginal risk (1 out of 5) for severe weather. Strong gusty winds outside of the thunderstorms might be of a bigger concern as we have a tight pressure gradient that will form and push into the area later today. Winds will gust over 30 MPH out of the southwest today. Highs are expected to top out in the middle 70s today, about seven degrees below normal.  Most of the rain should come to an end around midnight. Lows tonight will fall into the low and middle 40s (10 to 15 degrees below normal).  Afterwards, the unseasonably cool weather pattern continues east of the Rockies, as a deep trough will keep the Eastern US well below average through the weekend.
