Amazon To Fire Workers Who Intentionally Violate Distancing
AMAZON SAYS IT WILL START FIRING WORKERS WHO VIOLATE SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES
(CNN) – Amazon says its workers who violate its social distancing guidelines could soon be out of their jobs.
The company says it will start firing those who intentionally violate the guidelines, after they are given up to two warnings.
The guidelines require employees to stay six feet from one another while working.
But some workers say it’s often impossible to do their jobs and stay six feet part.
And one former employee in Staten Island, New York, says Amazon used the policy as retribution against him.
Amazon said Christian Smalls was fired last week for joining a worker protest while he was under quarantine.
But Smalls says the company got back at him for demanding the facility where he works be deep cleaned.
Amazon says it has taken steps to make social distancing possible at work.
