Marriott Announces Data Breach Affecting 500 Million
MARRIOTT DISCLOSES DATA BREACH POSSIBLY AFFECTING OVER 5 MILLION CUSTOMERS
(CNN) – Marriott has disclosed a big data breach.
The hospitality giant said on Tuesday; more than five-million Marriott customers may have been affected by the breach.
The incident involves names, addresses and phone numbers; as well as information from Marriott’s loyalty program.
Account numbers associated with third-party loyalty programs, such as airline frequent flier accounts, may have also been compromised.
Marriott said in a statement on its website no passwords appear to have been lost.
The company is sending emails to guests involved.
The breach is Marriott’s second in two years.
A much larger breach was disclosed in 2018, which affected some 500 million customers.
