Powerball To Lower Jackpot
POWERBALL WILL HAVE A LOWER JACKPOT DURING THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC
(CNN) – Even games of chance are struggling due to the coronavirus.
The group that oversees the Powerball says if Wednesday night’s jackpot is won; the next jackpot will be set to $20 million.
That’s half the usual starting point of $40 million.
Increases in the jackpot if no one wins will also be limited.
The amount will only jump $2 million between each drawing; instead of ten million.
The Powerball product group points to shelter-in-place orders across the nation affecting its ticket sales as the reason for the change.
Wednesday night’s drawing stood at $150 million.
If no one wins the jackpot, it will still increase to $160 million because the new rules don’t kick in until the pot resets.
