Stroller Strong Moms of Columbus Stay Fit During COVID-19


“We have to be creative, as a mom we have to be flexible. We do push-ups. We do step-ups, and this is a high one.”

Stroller Strong Moms of Columbus has created a variety of workout videos for men and women of all ages and body types. These activities can be done outside or indoors.

“Every minute on the minute goes a long way,” said Stroller Strong Moms of Columbus owner and instructor Rebecca Paull. “We just want to make sure that they’re staying active. That’s the bottom line.”

Due to the Coronavirus, it’s important for residents to take safety precautions an stay at home if sick, but if one is feeling healthy then a great way to stay active is by taking the workout outdoors and getting Vitamin D from the sun.

“Getting fresh air, there’s not as much susceptibility to transmitting the virus when you’re outside and in the open air,” said Piedmont Columbus Regional Chief Nursing Officer Cary Burcham.

That’s because the majority of the time people are not touching objects outside. Right now, practicing social distancing six-feet apart is the strategy.

“Even just throwing the kids in the stroller and going for a walk 10 to 15 minutes, letting them ride their bike alongside you as you kind of jog,” said Stroller Strong Moms of Columbus instructor Molly Wright. “I did that with my oldest the other day.”

The best part about Stroller Strong Moms is that people can use anything to workout, body weight, anything lying around the park, or even a stroller.

“Do regular squats, but if that’s too easy grab a dumbbell,” said Wright. “Add some extra weight to it. Grab the milk jug. Grab your baby.”

While battling COVID-19, it’s important to stay healthy, disinfect often and exercise as a family or as the Stroller Strong Moms would say, Sweat Like a Mother.

“You can do these workouts anywhere. We cybernate,” said Paull. “That’s what we’re doing. We’re having fun together. We’re social distancing, but we’re still getting our workout. We’re still getting our community.”

Indoors or outdoors, there’s no excuses. Stay healthy, and let’s battle the virus together.
