Friday Temps Fry; Weekend Rain Chances

The warmest weather we’ve seen so far this year is poised to greet us tomorrow. After lows tonight some 10 degrees warmer than last night, around the 60 degree mark, temperatures will soar once the late March sun goes to work. Highs will be in the upper 80s for most of us, with a few locations perhaps touching the 90 degree mark. Columbus hasn’t had a 90 degree day in March since 1945, so it will definitely be a feat if the Fountain City reaches that tomorrow. For now, we forecast a high of 88 for Columbus.

Clouds will be on the increase tomorrow night as south to southwest winds pump in low-level moisture. Saturday will be another warm day but not as warm with the increased cloud cover; highs will be in the 83-88 degree range with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. A little better chance of showers and storms enters the picture for Sunday as a weak cold front approaches.

We’ll be in between systems on Monday with a slight chance of showers and highs near the 80 degree mark before another stronger storm system approaches on Tuesday. This one may bring a chance of some strong thunderstorms, but the forecast is subject to change still being five days out. One thing that is fairly certain in the forecast is that the Tuesday system will bring cooler air just in time for April; highs will be in the 70s and overnight lows in the 50s to start off the month.
