Spring Fever to End the Week

A warm Wednesday is coming to an end over the area, as most of us saw the temperature eclipse the 80 degree mark. A few showers and storms dotted the landscape, especially in the Georgia part of our viewing area; the heaviest rainfall was confined to a band from Americus south towards the Albany metro area.

Another mild night is in store, with low clouds setting in to start the morning. Lows should be a couple of degrees either side of the 60 degree mark. Even warmer conditions are on tap for tomorrow with highs in the lower to middle 80s and a slight chance of a rogue shower or thunderstorm.

A stout high pressure system off the Gulf coast should keep rain chances in check until a stronger impulse approaches the area for the weekend. That impulse will drag a cold front through our area and increase rainfall chances just in time for the weekend. Although we’ve seen rainfall amounts WAY above normal so far for 2020, the rain will be welcomed to clean the air of all the pollen that has accumulated over the past week or so. Cooler temperatures will prevail as well with highs bumped down to the 70s Saturday and then 60s for Sunday and Monday, with lows in the lower to middle 50s.

A warmup is in store for next week as highs rebound into the mid to upper 70s by midweek.
