UPDATED: Harris County School District Announces Food Distribution Program During School Closure

HAMILTON, GA (MARCH 13, 2020) – While the Harris County School District (HCSD) will be closed weekdays from Monday, March 16, 2020, through Friday, April 3, 2020, the School Nutrition Department will be serving meals in the community for our students.

***Meals will be served on the days that school would normally be in session. Spring Break dates (March 30-April 3), food is not planned to be served.

“Our goal is to ensure our students are not missing meals because school is not in session,” said Shelia Baker, assistant superintendent of student services. “On weekdays, many of our students rely on breakfast and lunch at school for much of a day’s nutrition. The grab-and-go bags will be free and provide both lunch for the day and breakfast for the next day.”

There will be two ways to obtain food. Parents can take their children to Park Elementary School, which will serve as the HCSD base site for food distribution, or to a satellite serving site throughout the county. All meals will be served Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Serving sites are as follows:
