Slight Risk of Severe Storms and Heavy Rainfall
Another round of rain and thunderstorms today. The first round of rain and thunderstorms this morning could become severe producing damaging winds and a brief tornado. Of course, heavy rainfall will accompany these storms also. The Storm Prediction Center out of Norman, Oklahoma has much of east central Alabama and west central Georgia under a slight risk for severe weather today. Rainfall amounts will range from 3 to 4 inches of rain through Thursday for most of us. If those rainfall amounts materialize we will deal with flash flooding issues, later this week. Outside of the severe weather and heavy rainfall potential today, expect highs in the low 70s today with a south breeze at 10 to 20 MPH. Chance of rain is 90%. Lows tonight will drop off into the low to middle 50s, with patchy dense fog developing again. Chance of rain tonight is 30%. More rain on Wednesday but much cooler with highs struggling to get in the lower 60s.
