Regalado Selected as PBC Player of the Week

After winning his 24th straight spring singles match, Columbus State University men’s tennis player Alvaro Regalado was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

The senior had no trouble in his first ranked showdown of the year dropping just two games in a 6-1, 6-1 victory over No. 23 Ignacio Bidegain of Anderson.

Along with his doubles partner, Javier Cueto Ramos, Regalado won at second doubles 6-2 helping the second-ranked Cougars to a 7-0 sweep of the Trojans.

The second-ranked player in the nation in the latest ITA Poll, Regalado is 2-0 in both singles and doubles play this season.

Columbus State will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 19 against No. 16 West Alabama. The match will begin at 2 p.m. at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
