Rain Returning; Severe Storms Possible Wednesday into Thursday

High pressure that kept us dry today is moving eastward and will allow our next rainmaking system to slide into the southeast by tomorrow morning. Coupled with southwest flow injecting lots of Gulf moisture into the region, this low pressure system has the potential to dump a lot of rain on our area and also bring severe storms Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning. The main threat will be damaging winds and heavy downpours with some flooding, but cannot rule out tornado activity.

While light rain is anticipated to begin sometime on Tuesday, the heavier rainfall will move through Wednesday into Thursday. Between 2-3” of rainfall is possible for our area. Flood or Flash Flood Watches could be issued.

This front will pass by Thursday allowing for a beautiful Friday. Another fast moving weak front is expected to push through Sunday giving us a chance for isolated showers on Saturday out ahead of it. We should wrap up the weekend on a dry note.

Daytime highs will run 10+ degrees above normal through Thursday with overnight lows staying well above average as well.

Keep smiling,
