Gloomy Saturday, Nice Sunday Ahead
CHANCE FOR SEVERE WEATHER MIDWEEK NEXT WEEK
After a raw and chilly Friday with light to moderate rain around, the stubborn clouds will stick around through much of Saturday as well. The winds will relax some, however, allowing temperatures to rebound into the mid to upper 50s for highs as opposed to the 40s we were stuck in all day today.
Sunday looks like a great day with sunshine and seasonable conditions. After morning lows start off in the mid to upper 30s, temperatures will climb into the 60-65 degree range. Groundhogs here will likely see their shadow, but any outdoor pregaming for the big game Sunday evening should be nice.
Even warmer conditions are in store to start next week, with 70 degree readings possible each day Monday through Thursday. With increased moisture as well, lows will moderate from around 40 Monday to around 50 Tuesday to the 55-60 degree range on Wednesday.
The increased moisture, however, will lead to unstable air around the area as well once we reach Wednesday and especially into Thursday. Winds aloft will strengthen as a low pressure system gets cranked up to our north, and we’ll be firmly in the warm sector this time as opposed to storms scooting to our south this week. That combination will lead to a threat of strong to potentially severe thunderstorms Wednesday and Thursday. The Storm Prediction Center has outlined our area for a slight risk of severe weather for both days. As with any severe weather forecast, there are finer details to work out once we get two to three days out from the threat, so keep it here for the latest updates.
The timing looks good for next weekend, however, as a cold front will clear things out for Friday and especially as we head into next weekend.
