Jamareion Davis Died From Shotgun Wound After Argument

The teen accused of killing a 13 year old boy was out of jail on a pretrial release for an unrelated felony charge according to court testimony. Jaquayvius Jones is charged with murder after the shotgun death on 32nd Avenue in Columbus.

13 year old Jamareion Davis was at home with several of his siblings Friday, January 17th. A Columbus Police Detective said there was another teen in the home too. The 18 year old Jones was inside the bedroom with Davis where an eyewitness told detectives the two were engaged in a verbal altercation and Jones fired the shotgun striking the 13 year old in the torso.

Despite being critically injured , the middle school student miraculously made it out of the house and across the street where he collapsed and died.

The investigator told the Judge that Jones fled the scene and cut his court ordered ankle monitor. The 18 year old alleged shooter was on a pretrial release for a felony theft by taking charge less than a year ago.

Due to the nature of the charges the Recorder’s Court Judge could not set bond in this case and because he could now be considered a flight risk bond isn’t likely in the near future. Jones is being detained in the Muscogee County Jail.
