LAX, CDC Helping Trace Potential Virus Contacts

THE CDC IS AMONG THE GROUPS WORKING TO HELP CONTACT PEOPLE WHO MAY HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH A CORONAVIRUS PATIENT

(CNN) – There’s a coordinated effort to trace the potential spread of the Wuhan coronavirus in Los Angeles.

It’s between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, L.A. County Department of Public Health and the L.A. airport.

The director of the Department of Public Health says an individual with the infection went through LAX recently.

Now those three agencies are trying to identify people who may have been in close contact with the unnamed patient.

The person in Los Angeles is one of the two confirmed coronavirus cases in California.

According to the CDC there are now five confirmed cases in the U.S.

On Sunday, China’s health minister said people infected with the coronavirus can spread the disease before showing symptoms.
