Three Shots of Rain, First One Later Today

Get out and enjoy the sunshine while you can this morning. Clouds will increase ahead of a fast-moving disturbance to our west. Light rain will begin to break out later this afternoon and especially into tonight and early on Monday morning to begin the work week. With high-octane Gulf moisture far to our south, we’re only expecting light rainfall and nothing heavy, much less any thunderstorms.

A similar system will head through the area into Wednesday. With the low pressure system riding the Gulf coast, our area will again stay out of the warm and humid sector, keeping rain on the light to moderate side and keeping any storms along the coast and offshore.

A slightly stronger system looks to head into the area to end the week into the early part of the weekend. There’s a little less in the way of confidence in this system, and it may track farther north than the previous two disturbances, giving us perhaps a shot of heavier rainfall. Many more details to work out and a few days to do so, so stay tuned.

Temperatures will stay near average levels for late January with highs in the 50s and lower 60s and lows in the 30s and 40s. No abnormally warm conditions or Arctic cold invasions are on tap for the upcoming week.
