Obama Portraits To Go On Year-Long National Tour
WILDLY POPULAR OFFICIAL PORTRAITS OF THE OBAMAS WILL GO ON A YEAR-LONG NATIONAL TOUR BEGINNING IN JUNE 2021
(CNN) – The official portraits of the Obamas will go on a national tour next year.
The Smithsonian National Portrait gallery made the announcement on Thursday.
The official portraits of president Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama were painted by Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald, respectively.
They have been a wildly popular attraction since they were unveiled two years ago.
Beginning in June of 2021, the portraits will be displayed at five museums across the country; in Chicago, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Houston.
A spokeswoman for the National Portrait gallery says the locations were chosen based on their connections to the former first couple or the artists.
