Georgia Tech Head Coach Geoff Collins Arrives in Style to Troup County

The Troup County Tigers held their football awards ceremony Wednesday night, and they had a special guest speaker arrive in style. Georgia Tech Football Head Coach Geoff Collins flew in on the Yellow Jackets helicopter.

Collins just finished his first season at the helm at Georgia Tech, finishing the football season (3-9). This next season (2020-21) will start like the last, a game against the Clemson Tigers.

On early signing day, December 18, 2019, Collins signed the Yellow Jackets second top 20 recruiting class in program history.

At the podium during the Troup County awards ceremony, Collins shared a special memory from his first Rockdale County High School spring football game, which happened to be played against Troup County.

“I’m standing on the sideline like one of these little dudes saying that is the biggest person I have ever seen,” said Collins. “Coach was like, ‘Hey Geoff, it’s your time to go in.’ No bruh, I’m good. Did you see that dude?”

To put Collins story into perspective, as a little ninth grader he was going up against a 6’5″, 265 pound defensive lineman from Troup County. That Tiger great, George Brewer, went on to play for the Georgia Bulldogs. Brewer currently is the defensive coordinator/line coach for the Point University Skyhawks.
