Auburn Defensive Coordinator, Kevin Steele Signs New Three-Year Deal

Auburn Defensive Coordinator Kevin Steele has signed a new three-year deal with the Auburn Tigers.

The veteran Defensive Coordinator’s new deal goes through the 2022 season.

Details and compensation have not been announced yet, but according to USA today’s salary database Steele was the fourth highest paid assistant last year.

The Tigers ranked 28th in FBS total defense and 17th in scoring defense while playing one of college football’s toughest schedules.

In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, Malzahn said “Kevin has done a fantastic job with our defense the last four years making it one of the best in the country. This will provide great stability and leadership for our defense in the future. I’m appreciative of Kevin s hard work.”

Auburn is one of only five FBS programs to hold opponents under 20 points per game in each of the last four seasons.
