Elston Earns Spot on Preseason All-PBC Softball Team

After a fabulous freshman campaign, Columbus State University softball player Morgan Elston was named to the 2020 Peach Belt Conference preseason All-Conference team on Tuesday.

Elston, a Locust Grove, Ga. native, was selected as the third baseman on the 10-member team.

In 2019, Elston hit a team-best .359 while carrying a .933 OPS for the Cougars over her freshman season. With 61 hits, she ranked fifth in the PBC and also finished in the top-10 in average (sixth) and runs scored (ninth). Elston was second on the team with 10 doubles and added five home runs.

Elston recorded three or more hits in a game five times and finished the season with a 24-game on-base streak.

For her efforts, Elston was a first team All-Southeast Region selection by the NFCA and D2CCA. She also earned a spot on the first team All-PBC team.

Columbus State is less than a week-and-a-half away from the first pitch of the 2020 season on Saturday, Feb. 1. The Cougars will take on Lenoir-Rhyne in a doubleheader in Hickory, N.C. before closing out the opening weekend with a pair of games at Catawba.
