Scholar Athlete of the Week: Calvary Christian’s Breanna Odom

Calvary Christian senior guard, Breanna Odom, is the general for the Knights. If left wide open from behind the arc, she’ll knock it down.

“I love shooting three pointers. Practice makes perfect, I just practiced it a lot and got good at it.”

Both of her parents played basketball, but she followed in her mother’s footsteps and joined the squad at Calvary Christian.

“After every game, they tell me what I did good or bad or try to help me in however way they can.”

The five-year varsity senior dedicates a lot of time on and off the court, maintaining a 3.7 GPA and taking dual enrollment classes.

“It gets you prepared for college, and you have more time to do other things. Definitely manage their time well. Have a good balance between school work and sports, and know that school work comes before sports.”

Odom finds a way to balance school around basketball, her favorite sport, archery and softball. She began playing basketball in sixth grade, and her passion has never faded. Even with first-year Calvary Christian Head Coach Julianna Pope at the helm for the Knights.

“Well her three objectives for the teams are for us to be in the game in the fourth quarter, to have killer defense and to follow our shot.”

After her senior season, Odom is not sure if she will hang up her sneakers forever. Being part of the Knights squad is something she will always cherish.

“It means everything. I’ve grown up here. I’ve been here since K-5. I love playing basketball here.”

Congratulations to Breanna Odom, our WLTZ Scholar Athlete of the Week.
