Signing Day for Four Columbus High Athletes

THREE SOCCER GIRLS AND ONE TRACK AND CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER SIGNED THEIR LOI

Four Columbus High senior athletes received their Christmas wish a few weeks early, to play college sports. Three Blue Devils will join women’s college soccer programs and one will run cross country and track and field.

Josie Wood signed to play soccer at the University of Minnesota. The forward fell in love with the campus, coaches and team on her first trip to visit the Golden Gophers.

Vanessa Aviles will stay in her hometown of Columbus and play for the CSU Cougars, a team that is solid every season. The midfielder will join former Columbus High soccer goalkeeper Lizzie Hedrick, defender Madeline Goodfellow and midfielder Kimmy May at CSU.

Faith Knoedler signed to play soccer at North Greenville University. The midfielder/striker is excited to join a school with new facilities and the team has a fun atmosphere.

Heaven Allen has dreamed of this day since she was a freshman. Allen will run cross country and track at the University of South Carolina Upstate.
