Andrew Oropeza Named Northside Football Head Coach

OROPEZA ENTERS 11TH SEASON IN COACHING, FIRST YEAR AS A HEAD COACH

The Northside Patriots have found their next football head coach for next season 2020-21. Andrew Oropeza was selected to take the helm at Northside for this eleventh season in coaching. Coach Oropeza’s goal is to make the Patriots tough, so he plans on starting in the weight room.

Oropeza leaves Harris County where he was the offensive coordinator and receivers coach for the Tigers. Prior to that he was an offensive coordinator at Russell County and Shaw. Oropeza played high school football for the Hardaway Hawks and college ball at the University of North Alabama. Oropeza shared what it means to come back home and coach in Muscogee County.

“Going back is special because I grew up playing on the same fields these kids are playing right now or when they were in youth league,” said Oropeza. “Went through the same hallways an the same gyms. It’s special for me to go back and give back. I’m looking forward to that opportunity.”

The Patriots will play in GHSA Region 2-AAAAA from 2020-2022. Northside will face Harris County, McIntosh, Griffin, Northgate, Starr’s Mill and Whitewater.
