Desmond Seketrius

Morning Meteorologist

Desmond Seketrius serves as the morning meteorologist for WLTZ First News Today.

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Meteorology and minors in Mathematics and Communication from the University of South Alabama.

He also has completed the Weather Officer Course at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi. Desmond has served more than twelve years as a Weather Officer for the 105th WF out of Nashville, Tennessee. During his service to the country, he has received numerous awards from TDY’s and deployments worldwide.

Desmond grew up in Alexander City, Alabama and he has always shown a strong interest and curiosity for understanding the weather. When he is not studying the weather, he enjoys watching basketball, football, baseball and working out.

WLTZ is Desmond’s first time being on-air as a Broadcast Meteorologist, having began is time here on November 25, 2019.

He previously worked for the Alabama Department of Labor and the LeMay Center at Maxwell Air Force Base.

Desmond comes to us from Montgomery, Alabama where he has resided with his wife LaToya.

He is eager to get to know the community of Columbus and the surrounding area.
