McDonald’s Workers Sue For “Risk Of Violence”
MCDONALD'S WORKERS SUE FAST FOOD CHAIN CLAIMING THEY FACE 'DAILY RISK OF VIOLENCE AT WORK'
(CNN) – 17 Chicago area workers are suing McDonalds’ over what they call a nationwide pattern of violence at the restaurants.
The lawsuit was filed on Thursday in an Illinois state court.
The employees claim there are more than 20 911 calls a day from Chicago area McDonald’s.
The lead attorney on the case says McDonald’s stores weren’t designed with safety in mind.
The lawsuit outlines several incidents that include, a customer beating an employee with a wet-floor sign, and another customer pulling out a gun and jumping over the counter.
One employee and plaintiff in the lawsuit says police found a dead body in her store’s bathroom.
But she says McDonald’s never provided any safety training or offered any trauma support.
The company released a statement saying it will continue to make investments in training programs that uphold safe environments.
