Gators Ready to Face Bessemer Academy in AISA Class AAA State Championship

GLENWOOD PUNCHES TICKET TO STATE FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2011

The Glenwood Gators have booked their ticket back to the AISA Class AAA State Championship for the first time since 2011. The Gators are on the hunt for revenge against the Bessemer Academy Rebels, the same team that took the crown in 2011, 35-21.

Earlier this season Bessemer defeated Glenwood, but now the Gators are back at full strength for the big matchup. Head Coach Jason Gibson has put together a strong gameplan that’s given Glenwood confidence in their playoff games this year.

“We’ve got good players top to bottom, so that part is good. Means we are going to be in the game,” said Gibson. “As long as they follow the plan, we are going to be in good shape.”

Now they just need to follow their assignments if they are going to take down the speedy Bessemer Cougars.

“They’re really athletic. They’re fast,” said senior quarterback Bryce Newman. “If we contain the players we should be good. Last time we kind of struggled containing certain players, but I think we have a good gameplan going into it.”

The Gators and Rebels take the field at Troy University on Friday, November 22 at 7 p.m. CT for the AISA Class AAA State Championship.
