Chambers Academy Playing for Back-to-Back State Titles

The Chambers Academy Rebels have punched their ticket back to the AISA Class A Football State Championship for the fifth year in-a-row. In 2018, the Rebels earned their first state title in school history where they defeated Crenshaw Christian Academy 22-12. Now the Rebels are headed back to Troy University for the fifth year in-a-row, and they will face the Southern Academy Cougars.

The Rebels have already defeated the Cougars once this season, winning 42-21. That’s the only loss Southern recorded all season, so expect this one to be a battle. Chambers Academy Head Coach Jason Allen said both teams run the ball very well, but it all starts at the line of scrimmage for these two smash-mouth squads.

“The best thing about their (Southern) football team is their offense and defensive line,” said Allen. “They’ve got some good backs that know where they’re going and they understand the offense. They’ve been doing it for a while. You can tell. Our guys are based out of the same offense, so that does help us to an extent.”

The AISA Class A State Championship kicks off Friday, November 22 at 12 p.m. CT at Troy University.

“This is home for me. This is my alma mater where I grew up,” said Allen. “I love the pride that a good football team brings to the community and our school has really helped put us on the map.”
