Rainy Night Tonight, Beautiful Weekend Shaping Up
CHANCE OF SHOWERS INCREASES LATER TODAY AND LINGERS THROUGH FRIDAY AM
After record low temperatures on Wednesday morning, temperatures this morning have been kept up in the upper 30s and lower 40s as a blanket of clouds covers the region courtesy of moisture filtering in from the southwest. We’ll get lift from an approaching cold front later today to provide us with a chance for light rain showers this afternoon. The rainfall will get a little heavier and more widespread tonight and into Friday morning before the system begins to pull away from the area. Overall, rainfall amounts in any one spot should be around a quarter to a half of an inch. Highs will be kept down today with the lack of sunshine to the upper 40s and lower 50s, while lows tonight will be in the 40-45 degree range. Friday will see highs in the mid 50s as a few peeks of sun will break through the cloud cover by the late afternoon. A sprinkle or two may linger into high school playoff football games Friday night, but overall, games should be rain-free with temperatures falling through the 40s from the opening kickoff to the final whistle.
Once the system responsible for the rainfall over the next 36 hours pulls away, a beautiful fall weekend is in store. Highs will be in the 60-65 range with full sunshine both days, while lows will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s – still cooler than normal for this time of year, but we are not expecting freezing conditions as we saw Wednesday morning.
Temperatures will become more mild for next week with highs in the 65-70 degree range by midweek with lows in the 40s. A slight chance of showers is in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday, but there is a wide difference in forecast models for that time period, so stay tuned.
