Honda To Sell Only Electric Cars In Europe By 2022
HONDA WILL DITCH GAS ONLY VEHICLES IN EUROPE BY 2022, 3 YEARS EARLIER THAN ORIGINALLY PLANNED
(CNN) – Honda is going green in Europe.
The car company announced Wednesday it will only sell fully electric and hybrid vehicles in Europe starting in 2022.
That’s three years earlier than it previously planned on ditching gas-only vehicles.
Honda says it accelerated those plans based on confidence in green technology and regulatory changes in Europe.
To help make it happen, six new Honda models are planned for the market over the next three years.
Many car-makers are racing to bring more electric vehicles to market.
Volkswagen is spending $34 billion to launch 70 new electric models by 2028.
Hyundai is investing $35 billion into EV’s and autonomous driving over the next five years.
