Scholar Athlete: Chambers Academy’s Braxton Allen
CHAMBERS ACADEMY SENIOR BRAXTON ALLEN HAS HIGH EXPECATIONS FOR HIMSELF ON THE FIELD AND IN THE CLASSROOM
Every team starts the season with the same goal, to be state champions.
The Chambers Academy Rebels football team accomplished that last year and they’re looking to repeat this year.
Senior Running Back and Linebacker Braxton Allen likes his teams chance to do that.
“I feel pretty good about it. I think we’re just as good as we were last year,” says Allen. “We just have to take it one week at a time and I think we ll be alright. Just go to work every single day and we ll be alright”
As a captain on his team, he’s expected to be a leader on the field and on the sideline.
“Always staying positive and always having a lot of high energy and motivating everybody to get after it,” said Allen.
That leadership has transitioned into the classroom. He has a 3.7 GPA and is a member of the Beta Club, but performing at a high level academically is nothing new to Braxton.
“I’ve been doing it pretty much all my life so I’m just kind of used to it. It’s just keeping that mentality that you’ve got to go to work every day is basically it,” said Allen.
Braxton is looking to play football in college and has a couple of schools in mind. He’s hoping that he doesn’t go alone.
“Me and all my buddies would like to all go somewhere together,” says Allen. “I think that would be pretty cool and we’re just working towards that goal of doing that”
Congratulations Braxton Allen, WLTZ’s Scholar Athlete of the Week.
