Cooler This Week, Colder for the Weekend?

A cold front has stalled near our area this evening, bringing very isolated showers to the viewing area. Coverage of those showers should be less than one in ten into tonight and tomorrow. Since the cold front failed to push through and is stalling out, highs will still be above average in the 85-90 degree range through the rest of the work week.

A strong cold front is poised to move through the region to start the weekend. While it will be mainly dry like its predecessor, it will manage to bring in a much cooler air mass. Morning lows by Sunday and Monday of next week will be in the 50s for the most part with a few select sheltered areas perhaps in the upper 40s! Highs will be in the 78-83 degree range after the front passes.

No meaningful chance of rain is in the cards until the middle of next week, so drought conditions will unfortunately persist and even worsen. Be careful if doing any open burning this week, and check ahead to see if any burn bans are in place (the Alabama Forestry Commission has one in effect for our Alabama counties).
