Hot Weekend, Isolated Showers
It was another record breaking day as we hit 99 in Columbus this afternoon besting the record of 97 way back in 1904. More records could fall this weekend.
We saw some isolated showers and thunderstorms today and the good news is we can see more on Saturday. The bad news is rainfall amounts will be so minimal it won’t make a dent in the drought conditions that will continue to deepen across next week.
Easterly flow with low-level moisture will increase a bit on Saturday so we may see a bit more cloud cover that could bring daytime temperatures down a bit, but highs will remain way above average for this time of the season.
High pressure will continue to dominate this weekend into next week before a long wave trough possibly forms and approaches the area at the end of next week. That may bring cooler temperatures and better rain coverage.
