Opelika Students Pray During Moment of Silence at Home Football Game

Prayer in schools is a topic that has been debated over for years.

But this school year, it has hit close to home.

Opelika high school prays before every home game, but that changed this year after a parent complained about freedom of religion.

The prayer was replaced with a moment of silence, but Opelika high students have not let that stop them.

During the moment of silence, the students said the Lord’s prayer out loud.

Friday night we caught up with a couple of students to find out why.

The students plan to continue praying out loud for the rest of the football season.

Opelika did pull out the win the other night against Wetumpka 33 to 32.
