Bulldogs On Top In Rivers Intercollegiate


With all four counters firing under-par scores, the No. 7-ranked Georgia men’s golf team moved to the top of the leaderboard in the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate on Monday.

Playing Squire Creek Country Club’s par-72, 7,070-yard layout, the Bulldogs fired a 6-under 282 in the second round to move to 11-under 565 for the tournament. Georgia is two shots ahead of Texas State (567) and nine clear of host Louisiana Tech (574).

Senior Spencer Ralston and freshman Connor Creasy paced the Bulldogs on Monday as each signed for a 2-under 70. Junior Davis Thompson and sophomore Trent Phillips both followed with 1-under 71s. Senior Calum Masters had the Bulldogs’ non-counting score of 4-over 76.

Thompson and Creasy are in fifth individually at 3-under 141, three behind Trey DePriest of Central Arkansas and Connor Futrell of Troy (138). Phillips stands 11th at 2-under 142, followed by Ralston at 1-over 145, and Masters at 3-over 147.

Competing as an individual, sophomore Will Kahlstorf fired a 4-over 76 to move to 4-over 148.

The final round of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate is slated for Tuesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
