Scholar Athlete: Pacelli’s Lauren Coleman

Maintaining a 4.0 GPA, being the secretary of the national science honors society and class president can be a lot to balance.

For Pacelli Senior Lauren Coleman she’s found a way to handle all of that and then some in her senior year.

“Last year I really didn’t balance it very well, I would do my homework in the morning just because I would be so tired. Now I take the initiative and do my homework at night so that I can wake up early and refresh and have time to myself,” Said Coleman.

While she has found a way to balance things on the academic side, her volleyball team has found a way to win on the court.

“Last year we were last place in our area, we didn’t go to regionals, but we’re now in third place and we won our first region match [Tuesday].

Lauren was accepted to the University of Alabama and is still deciding where she wants to go to college, but she has an idea of what she’d like to do wherever she decides to go.

“Go to a law school so I can be a Jag officer in the Air Force. I’m looking towards getting my business degree and working with my dad,” said Coleman.

Lauren’s dad is a business owner and her mom has a doctorate degree from Auburn. She says they have set great examples that she can follow.

“My dad was in the military for 25 years and was able to juggle family time while always be on base or somewhere else. Being able to have good time management. When my dad was deployed, my mom was able to take care of two kids and have a full time job and not slack anywhere. Me taking that not slacking at any point in time, I’ll be good,” said Coleman.

Congratulations Lauren Coleman WLTZ’s Scholar Athlete of the Week.
