The Columbus State University men’s basketball team will open the 2019-20 season with a bang as head coach Robert Moore has announced an exhibition game against Florida State University.
The Cougars will head to Tallahassee, Fla. on Friday, Nov. 1 to match up with the Seminoles in the Tucker Center. Tip-off will be at 7:30 p.m.
“I’m very excited to give our guys the chance to play against one of the top basketball programs at the Division I level,” commented Moore. “Anytime you put that Columbus State University logo on the same floor as a program like Florida State, it’s something special.”
Florida State had a historic season in 2018-19 posting a program-record 29 wins as they advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. FSU will return 12 players, including two starters.
Moore and the Cougars also have an experienced squad returning this season. Four of the top five leading scorers from a season ago return, including seniors Landrius Horton and Bryant Givens.
This won’t be the first time that Columbus State has faced off against a Division I foe in an exhibition game in Moore’s tenure. In his first season, Columbus State defeated Auburn 54-52.
