Border Patrol Arrests Drop In August
U.S. BORDER PATROL ARRESTS CONTINUE TO DROP IN AUGUST WITH APPROXIMATELY 51,000 MIGRANTS ARRESTED
(CNN) – Preliminary data shows that U.S. Border Patrol arrests are down.
According to a Border Patrol source, around 51,000 people along the U.S.-Mexico border were arrested in August.
In July, they were around 72,000.
Homeland Security acting secretary Kevin McAleenan on Wednesday, appearing alongside president Trump, said that preliminary border stats indicate “a reduction of over 50% from May to today.”
Customs and Border Protection, which releases monthly border arrest numbers, does not comment on preliminary data.
